The Live Production Checklist We Never Skip
COLLINS Editorial
Redundancy, rundowns and rehearsals — the unglamorous discipline behind broadcasts that never fail.
Live has no undo button. Every flawless broadcast you have ever watched was built on a checklist nobody saw. Here is ours — the discipline we refuse to skip no matter how small the show.
One: redundant paths for power, network and stream destinations. Two: a written rundown with timings, cues and owner for every segment. Three: a full rehearsal including graphics, playback, transitions and failure drills.
Four: comms checks across every position before doors open. Five: ISO recording of cameras and program, always. Six: a post-show debrief within 24 hours while memory is fresh.
None of this is glamorous. All of it is the difference between 'the stream held' and an apology post. Live rewards the prepared — so we prepare.
